New! Canvas Art

A few weeks back I racked up big time
at Michael's on some clearance items.
Included in the stash were several brightly
colored mounted canvases just aching for
some crafty love. I think I paid $2 each!
You can TOTALLY make these with whatever
crafty stuff you have laying around the house,
which is exactly what I did.

For this first one, I added some scrapbook
paper cutouts and mounted the birds on top
of what I'm calling burlap twine, which is
really just a thread I pulled out of a scrap of
burlap then knotted at the ends.
I truly LOVE how this one turned out.

This one includes a vinyl sparrow (also found
on clearance at Michael's!) also perched on
a thread of burlap twine. Scrapbook paper
pieces, ribbon, another burlap scrap and a
pearl embellishment pretty the whole thing up.
These two canvas art pieces happen to be available
in my shop, but I think I've caught the canvas
bug and plan to have lots of fun seeing what else
I can come up with -- a whole new creativity for me!

What do you think?
What have you done with canvas?

  2. Gotta love clearance sales! Cute and clever way to make these canvases stylish and chic. Your idea of using the twine is so smart! I love square canvases, I buy them whenever I see them at a good price. The small ones are great to paint/embellish as gifts and sets can be sold in my Etsy shop.

  3. Those are so sweet. What a fab idea. I've also staple gunned pretty fabric to plain canvases - in a group - for some super easy but nice wall art.
